This course is the foundation for much of what we do at StrongMind Werks. In this individual program you work one-on-one with Dr. Chris to rapidly increase your self-discipline, single-point focus, self-awareness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and skillful responding to difficult situations. These are not overstatements. This course lays the groundwork for a lifetime commitment to disciplined training of the mind. It is also incredibly beneficial before beginning other programs we offer, such as anger- or addiction-focused work. The Disciplined Mind Course involves 12, weekly, one-hour online meeting with Dr. Chris. You will be required to read selected texts and books and discuss them in each session with your instructor. After discussion of the materials you will then spend anywhere from 10 to 45 minutes per session practicing this art with Dr. Chris. As part of this course, you also commit to daily practice between sessions, as well as brief writing assignments on your own once the course has begun. We will use a phone app to document your sessions. The benefits of this practice are considerable. Male clients reliably report that they are increasingly able to command their thoughts and actions more effectively and skillfully. Instead of automatic reactions to difficult problems, men grow to find they can pause, reflect, decide, and move forward with skillful plans. In addition, you will find that your tolerance for distress and suffering improve, along with your ability to concentrate on whatever you choose to do. Almost invariably, symptoms such as stress, anxiety, anger, and impulsivity will diminish -- and continue to diminish as long as you practice.
